in contact centers, quitters are not always losers
Ever just get fed up after what feels like the 50th irate customer of the day? Ever just sit in the parking lot contemplating just not showing up anymore? I've been there and you know what? You are not stuck in this line of work forever. You can and will escape call center hell. If you have the drive and desire, you will be able to escape insanely irate customers, incompetent managers and humanly impossible metrics and quotas.
Listen up, my first job in a contact center was as a telemarketer. I had no higher education and no previous work experience for a professional job so I had no choice. Add to that, I was really desperate for an office job as I had thought that it would lead to a better position and most importantly, better pay. On a day to day basis I have experienced:
At my last call center job, I couldn't take it anymore and decided to take control of my life. I learned a valuable skill. I not only learned it but I became a master at it, I made it hard for companies to not hire me for this skill. My quality of life is better, I am much happier and I actually love what I do. Don't let these poisonous work environments make you think that you're stuck there forever. You are only stuck there if you don't want to do better in life. Do you want to do better in life? Do you want to be happy and live a healthier, stress-free life?
Thought so.
Look, I made this blog to not only vent about my frustrations and experience in the customer service line of business, but to also help those who want to finally break free from the phone and find a more fulfilling career. Best believe, I will provide as much info on this little blog as I can to help as many people as I can. I won't ask you for your e-mail, I'm not going to sell you some $700 package telling you that you will be working from a beach the rest of your life. I will however provide links to resources that will help you that will probably prompt you for some info, but that's about it.
Want to do yourself a solid and take a step towards doing better in life?

- been cursed out
- been called stupid
- been told that I didn't what I was doing
- been told to die in a variety of creative ways
- harassed and picked on by management.
